First words from you are amazing, just the way you are.
Title from hush by miss a
Inspired by vampire Jinwoo.
“I’ll try to remember that.”
That was the last thing he remembers his older brother saying, before he walked out the door.
Time stopped, after that. After Jinwoo didn't come back. After Seokjin waited and waited and waited and ran everything over and over and over in his head again, the seconds slipping through his fingers only to loop back and replay, Jinwoo opening his mouth.
Seokjin not staying anything as he left, as the door swung shut behind him with a weary sigh.
Time stopped, but it didn't really, it just felt like it. Or maybe it was that time, for them at least, had stopped before they were born, before their father burned, before their parents met, before, before, before. . .
It's a pointless argument. Seokjin thinks about it anyway.
But what were you going to try to remember? Seokjin asks himself, staring a a photograph of Jinwoo, pale face, huge amber eyes. He can't remember.
He can't remember what they were talking about, what little insignificant thing he was probably scolding Jinwoo about for forgetting, Jinwoo and his shitty memory. Jinwoo who always smiled anyway, tongue flicking over his lips to hide the red. Jinwoo, the one who tried not to make messes, who tried to be the good older brother, didn't like it when Seokjin tried to take care of him.
"You take care of you older brother," was the last thing their mother had said, before she left and didn't come back, two small boys standing on the doorstep in the watery light of the moon. She hadn't said anything to Jinwoo at all, just kissed him on the forehead.
Seokjin has failed her. He stares out at the moon and tries to picture Jinwoo's face, turning away, but he must have been too busy with something else.
Regrets taste bitter.
